What does an Ehic Card cover?
The European Health Insurance Card (Ehic) is a travel document that allows people travelling within the European Union (EU) to access a range of healthcare services on the same basis as citizens of the member state they are visiting. Ehic card
This means that, should you require medical attention while travelling in the EU, you will be able to receive treatment without having to pay out of your own pocket.
Some of the benefits that an Ehic card offers its holders include free or discounted hospital treatment, prescription drugs, dental care and ambulance service.
In addition, Ehic cards can also be used to obtain free or reduced-cost public transport throughout the EU, as well as discounts on some leisure activities and food items.
If you are travelling to one of the 28 countries within the EU, then it is highly likely that an Ehic card will be valid.
However, there are some restrictions applied to Ehic cards when travelling to certain parts of Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania.

What are the eligibility requirements for the Ehic Card?
The Ehic Card is a travel document that allows eligible people to travel within the European Union and some member states for a fraction of the cost of an ordinary ticket.
You must have a valid passport, be in good health, and not be a terrorist or criminal. The card is free for people over the age of 18 and can be used by anyone, including children up to the age of 15.

The Ehic Card is not valid for flights operated by British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Ryanair or Vueling Airlines.
