Parc de la Ciutadella
Are you a multi-tasker? If so, try visiting Park Ciutadella where you can walk your dog and see beautiful sights like the nearby Arc de Triomf. Plentiful green space and long, winding paths make Parc de la Ciutadella one of the best places to bring your pet in Barcelona. Enjoy a game of fetch, chill by the lake, grab an ice cream, or enjoy a picnic with your furry friend.
Parc de l’Estació del Nord
This large, sunny park is built upon two levels. At the entrance of Carrer Lepant, you’ll find a huge playground with space specifically allocated for dogs. Two beautiful sculptures are visible while walking to the train station which is conveniently located right in front of the park. The famous sculptures are called Cielo Caído and Espiral Arbolada and were sculpted by the American artist, Beverly Pepper.
Jardins de Joan Brossa
Humans and dogs alike enjoy strolling, jogging, and relaxing in the gardens of Joan Brossa. You and your pup can spend the day exploring the park, which has a total surface area of 5.2 hectares. In addition, the park is located on the hill of Montjuïc so you’ll get a great view of the entire city.
Parc de Collserola
This 8000m2 of protected national park allows for endless games of fetch. Whether it’s a short day trip or an extended stay, get away from the busy city and enjoy the beautiful nature reserve. Try a challenging hike and then find a spot to relax with your pup. Parc de Collserola is located an hour outside of Barcelona by train or car.

Merbeyé
Merbeyé is located next to the tramline (tranvia blau) station on the side of Tibidabo, and offers delicious cocktails with a terrace that looks over the entire city. Most importantly, pets are welcome – the restaurant even has their own dog named Nora! After enjoying a drink with a view, head straight up to Tibidabo to continue the fun.
Beach Fun!
Barcelona beaches are an absolute must while visiting the city, but be sure to familiarize yourself with the rules before bringing a dog. Dogs are allowed on the beach at any time during winter. During the summer months, pets are only allowed on beaches after sunset, late at night, or early in the morning. Exceptions include guide and assistance dogs, who may access the beach at any time during any month.
But wait! There are special dog-friendly beaches in Barcelona such as Platja de Levant in Poblenou. They offer a 1,250 square metre area for dogs to play, relax, and even go doggy paddling! Other options include Sant Pol de Mar, Sant Pere Pescador and Port Ginesta
Getting Around the City
The rules for having animals on public transportation have changed as of 2014. Those travelling with pets must use a muzzle and a non-extending lead. It’s also prohibited to travel during crowded hours from 7:00 – 9:30 and 17:00 – 19:00. However, on weekends and public holidays, dogs are allowed to travel at any time.
