Chuks Onuoha kidnapped
Former Abia State Correspondent of The Sun Newspaper, Chuks Onuoha, has been abducted in the country. He was abducted from his house in Umuhu, Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, where he lived with his family. The abductors have not yet let his family speak to him. His family was so devastated when our correspondent visited them. They were in a mourning mood as they desperately tried to find out what happened to their beloved husband.
The Abia NUJ’s Chapter has appealed to Onuoha’s kidnappers to release the journalist. The union urged the government to deploy its entire security apparatus and institute water-tight security measures to protect Onuoha. The abductors had been threatening Onuoha’s family for the past three weeks. The state NUJ’s chairman, Adaeze Ralph-Igbokwe, spoke of his utter shock at Onuoha’s abduction.
Labour Party
If the Labour Party has any future in the country, then it may soon merge with the NNPP, with the latter taking the lead as the flagbearer for 2023. This is good news for Nigerians who remain incorrigible optimists, and who hoped that the year 2023 would be the year of new leadership naija news. The NNPP has so far ruled out the merger, and many Nigerians are excited by this potential merger, but some are still wary.
The defection of former governor of Anambra state, Samson Uchenna Charles, to the PDP is another blow to the leadership of the opposition party. Some Nigerian youths have kicked against this defection, saying that it was an attempt by the Labour Party to undermine the party’s unity. Other youths, however, have been quick to condemn the move, accusing the leadership of betrayal.
