Whoever said that you have to take the heat this summer – they were wrong. Change Your Bedding

Firstly, don’t make the mistake of keeping the same bedding as in the winter. Believe it or not, many people keep tossing and turning at night because they are still sleeping with their thick duvets, which you need to change instantly.

That said, make sure that the bedding fabric for summer is a lightweight cotton, as this won’t make you sweat. You might as well want to ditch the silken bedding and replace them with lightweight cotton bedding – the same goes for the pillows and duvets.

You might as well check the mattress type and see that you sleep on the cool side of the mattress. Keep the warmer side reversed for autumn and winter.

Window Treatments

Now there is something that you might want to do at the very start of the summer season: assess the windows and doors for potential crevices and cracks. If needed, make sure to seal all gaps so that the outside war air doesn’t enter your interior space – the same goes for the inside cold air.

Besides, by sealing all potential gaps, you can ensure that no summer pests enter your house as summer pests, such as roaches and mosquitoes, are nothing else but a nuisance.

When it comes to window treatments, you might as well ensure that you replace the thick velvet curtains with lightweight cotton curtains. The thing about dark and thick curtains is that they tend to absorb the heat and cause your interior space to heat up.

Use Fans

If you don’t want to pay money for an air conditioner, then your best choice is to go with a ceiling fan. However, make sure to adjust your ceiling fans in a way that rotates anti-clockwise to ensure that the room is cooling down instead of having the warm air pushed around the interior space.

By adjusting your fan to rotate anti-clockwise, you can ensure that a cooling effect is created by having the air pushed straight down to the floor. Also, adjust the fan speed to high so that you can change the temperature in your house.

Spend Your Evenings Outside

This tip is for those who have a backyard – you might want to spend your evenings outside in the backyard. And the best way to do this is by preparing your evening meals outside as well. There is no greater bliss than chilling in your backyard, having barbecues, and enjoying a fresh evening summer breeze. You can also save your interior space from getting heated by cooking outside.

Besides, if you want to improve the ambiance of your exterior space – aka your backyard- you might want to use string lights and make your backyard cozy.
